Bespoke is welcoming yet another influential and enthusiastic development professional to our growing team. For the past ten years, Kira DeVries has been helping Calgary’s non-profits and public institutions create and implement donor programs that engage the community and exceed their goals. If that weren’t enough, she does it in a way that leaves everyone involved feeling heard, valued and integral to each project’s success.
Kira brings with her a talent for all things strategic, from research, planning and communication to mentorship and event support (a skill we’ll hopefully be able to use before we all retire). In her most recent role as the Director of Development for Operation Eyesight Universal, Kira managed a team responsible for all fundraising and donor relations for the North American side of this international development agency. In her time at Operation Eyesight—during the pandemic and a period of organizational transition—she helped raise annual fundraising revenues by creating a more efficient workflow that allowed her and the team to spend more time communicating with donors.
Kira grew up in Sherwood Park then strayed East briefly to get her political science degree at Carleton and wet her feet in a Minister’s office on Parliament Hill. Her return to Alberta brought her closer—but not too close—to family where she launched her career in Development and Fundraising at the University of Calgary.
Outside of working hours, Kira claims to be boring but in reality sounds much like the rest of us. Time with friends, time with nature, time with Netflix, it’s all part of a package that we are fortunate to call our colleague from here on out.
